Washago is known for it’s key location. Where the Trent Canal, Green & Black Rivers and Lake Couchiching come together. My reference photo for this painting was taken from Washago Centennial Park looking towards the town. I love painting lakes and waterways, and on this calm spring day the water provided me with vivid reflections.
Historically Washago has always been an important location for both freight train and water transport and travel. It remains a key area to access northern communities and recreation for everyone. The tall structure in my painting is a Coal tower. Steam Engines used coal and water to power the trains. I have also heard from locals that the area was known for great spear fishing in the past.
I am drawn to this location because whenever I see or hear trains, I have a personal connection with my childhood. My father was a train engineer. The calm reflections in the water are peaceful and bring me gratitude for our past, and hope for the future.

Inspired by the Georgian Bay Shoreline. I feel privileged to live in such a beautiful area of Ontario, Canada. We are surrounded by such amazing nature. I'm inspired by the ruggedness of our wilderness areas and hope to capture the essence of the precious waterways, geography, trees, plants and sky. I find it very peaceful and fulfilling to watch the shoreline from the viewpoint of a paddler. I hope that others will find joy in viewing this painting.

After a long day of activity the waters calm as evening approaches. This painting was inspired on a walk on the shore of Lake Couchiching, Orillia Ontario. Taking time to breath, reflect and hope for what will be next. So many beautiful lakes and waterways to enjoy in our area. We can enjoy and appreciate our natural surroundings whenever possible.

This magnificent tree is one of many that we lost during the ice storm in the Spring of 2025. This one was near the Orillia Rowing Club dock at Tudhope Park. I had taken a reference photo a year earlier. I was filled with gratitude that at least I could create a more permanent memory of this tree and beautiful area.
