About

MJ Page - Creative Art

I am an enthusiastic Washago Artist, and retired Secondary teacher from Burlington, Ontario Canada. I have practiced and shared a love for Art since childhood. I have taken a variety of Art workshop courses over the years in Hamilton, Orillia & Washago areas. I'm a current member of the Washago Art Club, & Orillia Arts Club. Since retiring I have been able to dedicate more time and energy to my art interests. I have taught a few workshops to small groups.

My Goal as an artist is to share an appreciation of nature, patterns,  and the beauty of the many wonders that are right in front of us. Hoping to capture those moments in a meaningful way that celebrates nature and creativity.

As a child, growing up in the Niagara Region, I spent lots of time with my Mom and Aunt Mig. We always had some kind of creative projects on the go. Everything from cake decorating, sewing projects, furniture refinishing or re-purposing, gardening or home decor projects, to fine Arts paintings and crafts. My Dad and brothers also liked woodworking and building projects. I carried that creative spirit with me through my adult life and always looked forward to time to work on that next project. As my life got busier with work and family responsibilities there seemed to be less time and energy left for enjoying those creative projects for a while.

While living in the Hamilton Area, I enjoyed a 22 year career as a Secondary teacher with Halton Public School Board. Pursuing interests in hiking, cycling, kayaking and being in nature is where I spent much of my free time.

Now, once again, I'm in a position where I can get back to being creative more often. I have been blessed with opportunities to learn from and with talented local artists, and happy to share my joy and techniques with others when I can.

Here you will find a few examples of my Art work. Enjoy!
